PRINCE GEORGE – Those in search of childcare will have a new option as Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northern BC (BBBS) announce the completion of a new early learning centre.

The centre will be home to 50 childcare spaces for those between three and five years old.

According to BBBS the new facility will offer a stimulating, safe and supportive environment where children can learn and grow with comprehensive programming that encourages creativity, exploration and social interaction.

Amanda Chandler, Executive Director for BBBS of Northern BC said seeing this four-year project approach opening time is a special feeling.

Chandler said this is the first operation of its kind to be under the BBBS of Northern BC umbrella.

Councillor Tim Bennett said the addition of these childcare spaces will help fill a major gap for an age group that has previously been under-serviced and high in demand.

“While we are hearing firsthand from various workplaces the need of both, moms and dads who are not able to either work full time or are not returning to work because they don’t have childcare options available,” said Bennett. “The ability to be able to create these spaces in partnership with the provincial government then allows opportunities to provide affordable childcare for families here in Prince George’s.”

Those interested in signing up their children for the new facility can find more details on the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC website.
