Petition launched to improve bike lanes in Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — A newly launched petition is advocating for better bike lane infrastructure in Prince George.

The group ‘Safe Biking for Prince George’ says the current infrastructure is insufficient and can be incredibly dangerous.

It also adds that the current bike lanes feel dangerous and do not promote cycling in an effective manner.

The petition, which currently had over 250 signatures as of Monday morning, says Prince George needs to follow the lead of Metro Vancouver, who they argue have a great plan in place for the rapid implementation of bicycle infrastructure.

The group says the city ought to take advantage of grants that are available, They also note that with the cost of living on the rise, bicycling can help relieve everyday costs.
