Pothole season is back in town
PRINCE GEORGE — They are back and they are not welcome. As snow starts to melt, drivers are trying to steer clear of potholes.
With spring season coming in and temperatures going up, water from the snow seeps below the asphalt. That, with vehicles speeding over those areas, causes the the pavement to cave, creating a pothole.
Potholes can damage not only tires and wheels but also affect the front-end and suspension components on the vehicles. At this time of the year, mechanic shops are already prepared and expecting busy hours ahead.
“Every time spring rolls around, it gets a lot busier with all the damage. It [potholes] could have effects to the steering linkage, which can cause excessive tire wear in a hurry and can cause ABS faults,” explained Garret Pratt, a mechanic at Big O Tires.
