PRINCE GEORGE– This will be the scene at rinks across Prince George over the next week, as 12 skaters are set to represent the Northern BC Centre for Skating over the May Long weekend.

Figure Skaters of all ages will be participating from all over the world, From Northern BC to the Lower Mainland to Wenatchee in the US, and even a skater from Hong Kong. Now athletes like Hailey Baker work out their nerves by perfecting their routines.

“It’s a little stressful because I’m getting a new solo. I’m working on the stuff that needs to be fixed and then the entire solo along with that.” – Hailey Baker

For six-year-old Arwen McHale, she’s also looking to perfect solo next weekend. Following in her mom’s footsteps who got her into the sport at a very young age.

“My mom was a coach. I first went on the ice rink in a stroller and then I just kept figure skating from there.” – Arwen McHale

The event will be taking place from May 19th-21st at the Surrey Sport & Leisure Centre.
