Heat wave to drive demand for electricity, BC Hydro provides tips to stay cool
PRINCE GEORGE — Unseasonably high temperatures expected in the coming days could significantly increase electricity demand and break May records.
The demand for power during the current heat wave is expected to remain higher than average according to BC Hydro.
With record breaking temperatures hitting the province currently, BC Hydro says that the hydroelectric system can meet the additional demand. While the demand on the electricity system will be higher, Hydro says it will only be about two-thirds of what is typically recorded on the coldest days of the year.
