Evacuation order issued as Stoddard Creek wildfire grows
In a critical announcement, Emergency Management BC has issued a wireless public alert warning residents in areas of Northern British Columbia to evacuate immediately due to the imminent danger posed by the Stoddart Creek wildfire. The fast-moving blaze has grown to 1,200 hectares in less than 24 hours.
The fire presents a significant threat to human life.
The affected area encompasses the following boundaries: North of 256 Rd, south of Blueberry River and 272 Rd, east of Highway 97 and Beatton Airport Rd, and west of Prespatou Rd. Notably, Blueberry River First Nation is currently exempt from the evacuation order.
Residents within the specified area are urged to adhere to the evacuation order and leave the vicinity immediately to ensure their safety. Emergency Support Services are available at the North Peace Arena in Fort St. John, where affected individuals can register for assistance.
