PRINCE GEORGE — Good news for those northerners requiring passport service.

The long-awaited passport office officially opens today (May 17) in Prince George. This after Skeena-Bulkley Valley NDP MP Taylor Bachrach spent months pressing the federal government to open such an office in northern B.C.

“The new passport office is great news for the approximately 300,000 people who live in northern BC,” said Bachrach. “We made our voices heard and worked together to make a difference. I think that’s something we can all be proud of.”

The office, which offers 10-day passport services was supposed to open back in April, but was delayed due to the Public Service Alliance of Canada strike.
