FORT ST. JAMES — Mounties say property crime is on the rise in Fort St. James.

Police say it’s been prevalent the first few weeks in May.

“Numerous business in the community have fallen victim to various offences including break-and-enter and theft from vehicles,” says a RCMP news release. “These offences tend to take place between midnight and 5 a.m.”

RCMP say two people have been identified and arrested in connection with the recent crime spree. One of those suspects, a 32-year-old local resident, was found to be in possession of suspected cocaine. The man was later released for a court appearance in August.
