Gas prices remain steady for now
PRINCE GEORGE — With summer travel coming up, gas prices may be at the forefront of your mind, if you’re heading out on the roads.
Gas prices in the Prince George have remained relatively stable over the last while, especially with the coming summer travel season, but prices are bound to rise at some point in the summer, most likely in mid-July. In B.C. Prince George has been the cheapest place for gas at $160.9 per litre, but prices vary, in Williams Lake for instance, price are hovering around $175.9. Experts say that a number of global factors can be attributed to recent shifts in prices.
“We have a few things going on that have been influencing the price of oil. We have the ongoing debt ceiling discussions in Washington, D.C., in the US that are having an influence on the price of oil simply because of the US does shut down and default on its debt. It will likely mean a profound impact and negative impact to the US economy in which that could stifle oil consumption and drive prices down … So oil prices have been a little bit all over the place based on how those factors are kind of fluctuating on a daily basis.” – Patrick De Haan, Head of Petroleum Analysis, GasBuddy
