Two-vehicle MVI claims a life south of Quesnel

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: BC Highway Patrol say the crash occurred at 1:40 p.m. near Lansdowne Road and involved a commercial Ford F-150 pickup truck and a Dodge Ram pickup truck that had been hauling a trailer.

In addition to the a man killed in the crash, a woman was sent to hospital with injuries.

BC Highway Patrol says the occupants of the Ford pickup were uninjured. The cause of the incident is still under investigation, but it appears at this time that a mechanical failure may have contributed to the collision.

Earlier: One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash about 35 kilometres south of Quesnel Wednesday afternoon.

RCMP say it happened just before 2 p.m. though the cause hasn’t been released.

The crash closed Highway 97 in both directions for around six hours as investigators combed the scene.
