PRINCE GEORGE – United Way of Northern BC is thrilled to announce the generous donation of $70,000 from Coastal GasLink and TC Energy to support in the recovery of both evacuated communities and those communities directly supporting evacuees affected by the wildfires in Northern BC.

The volatile wildfire season is gripping the communities in Northeastern BC and adding pressure to social service supports within the region. With the majority of the typical wildfire season ahead of us, it’s important to ensure that the resources are ready to help where, and when, they are needed most.

The Urgent Response Fund was created to collect donations from organizations and individuals that would like to help communities. UWNBC is collecting these funds and will work with local people and agencies to determine where the funds are most needed and disperse the donor contributions as the situation evolves.

“This fire season started early and our communities desperately need our support. Through the generosity of Coastal GasLink and TC Energy, the United Way of Northern BC can ensure that help and resources are centered around community gaps and providing those who need it with the resources required to get through this difficult situation,” says Trista Spencer, Executive Director, United Way of Northern BC. “At UWNBC, we are so grateful for the relationship we have built with Coastal GasLink. By working together, we have been able to bring resources into the region that otherwise would not be there,” Spencer continued. “Those impacted by the wildfire situation in Northern BC continue to be in our thoughts. Coastal GasLink and TC Energy is supporting the United Way of Northern BC Urgent Response Fund with an immediate $70,000 investment in emergency relief and recovery efforts. We are always proud to support UWNBC and how their efforts go directly to the communities and people who need support.
