BC takes the lead: North America’s first jurisdiction to enforce ID verification at casino entrances

PRINCE GEORGE – British Columbia Lotto Corporation will implement enhanced identification requirements at B.C. casinos starting Monday, June 26, to support people enrolled in its Game Break self-exclusion program.

Next week casinos will require everyone to present government-issued photo identification for entry.

Security staff will scan the ID and automatically check against the database of individuals restricted from entering gambling facilities, like those enrolled in Game Break.

The system does not save personal information for those permitted to the casino. BC is the first jurisdiction in North America to require ID at the casino door.
