The local SPCA shelter intends to construct a shelter to serve the region
PRINCE GEORGE – This week, the province awarded 12 million dollars to the BC SPCA. Three million went to the North Cariboo SPCA here in Prince George. This infusion of dollars is excellent news for the local shelter. This new money must be supplemented with a major fundraising campaign locally to become a reality.
The SPCA animal shelter last underwent a major renovation close to thirty years ago. Different layers of colours are visible, showing the effort staff and volunteers have made to maintain the 5000-foot square shelter.
There is no hard date for constructing the new facility as they need to raise more money to meet the region’s needs.
“We want to make sure that we’re meeting the needs of Prince George and the surrounding communities. So lots of table work and lots of figuring out what this community needs.”
