PRINCE GEORGE- The Prince George Golf and Curling Club is busy this week, hosting the B.C. Junior Championships.

The championship welcomes 131 of the best male and female junior golfers from across the province.

The championship tee’d off Monday morning with the second round being Tuesday. The field will be cut in half after Tuesday’s round, leaving the best of the best for Wednesday and Thursday.

“British Columbia leads the country in terms of the development of young golfers, we have some incredibly talented young players,” said Kris Jonasson, the CEO of the British Columbia Golf Association.

Prince George has hosted amateur provincial golf tournaments in the past but, this is the first time that the Junior Championships are in the northern capital, which is exciting for the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.

“Prince George hosts many kinds of sporting events,” said The General Manager of the Prince George Golf and Curling Club, John Swanson. “It’s exciting that golf is another facet to that.”

You can check out all the golf this week anytime at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.
