Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako issues Evacuation Alert due to wildfire

PRINCE GEORGE – After recommendation from BC Wildfire Service, an Evacuation Alert has been issued for the the Powers Creek area.

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako is under alert to evacuate all dwellings and lands south of Seymour Lake, accessed from Tatlow Road or Hudson Bay Mountain Road, including local roads and the ski colony.

According to a statement, residents should be prepared to evacuate the premises or property if authorities find it necessary.

“Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions,” Chair Mark Parker said in a news release.

Still according to the document, evacuation routes will be specified and a Reception Centre will be opened in the event of an Evacuation Order.
