United Way Northern BC Steps Up to Connect Wildfire Victims with Resources and Volunteers

Jul 10, 2023 | 2:18 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – United Way of Northern B.C. has connected those in need with available resources. During this time, the United Way is on a mission to build a list of volunteers to help those affected by the Wildfires.

The United Way Northern BC supports a region nearly the size of the country of France. During last year’s fire season, they found themselves catching up with helping people affected by the fires.

At the start of June, they opened an urgent relief fund online where people can donate money and a process where they can donate their time.

“The agencies that we’ve connected with the municipalities that we have talked to across northern B.C., we’ve asked them what kind of support do you need. Number one is funding. Number two is to have that potential volunteer list ready so that when something happens, and they find that need, they can call us, and then we can reach out and organize.”

Lorna Bihori

Resource Development Officer, United Way Northern BC

The United Way supports its agencies, and its agencies help people. United Way will connect volunteers with agencies seeking extra support during this wildfire season.

Online, there is also an option for those who want to support with in-kind donations.
