PRINCE GEORGE — 15-year-old Delaney Turner is yet another athlete from Prince George set to head to Halifax for the 2023 North American Indigenous Games. Something the Volleyball player is looking forward to.

“I’ve never been on a plane so it’ll be something new. Going to Halifax, I’ve never been and I heard it’s a pretty cool place.” – Delaney Turner, Team BC, North American Indigenous Games

Turner first started Volleyball in 2019 and credits a lot of her success to long-time coach Mark Lafluer who told her about the opportunity and has coached her skills up. She was also part of the Kodiaks team which won Provincials this past year.

For Delenay’s mom, she was overjoyed about the news that her daughter was headed to the games with Team BC and like any parent was proud of Delenay’s great achievement.

“She’s worked hard to get to where she is right now. The process was nerve-wracking When we got the confirmation that she made the team. It was very overwhelming and exciting”– Jennifer Delorme, Delaney’s mother

Now it’s off to the lower mainland for one last team practice before getting on a plane across the country, something the Kodiaks Volleyball player can’t wait to experience

Some other PG Volleyball players going include Rowan Teegee-Zatorksi who has played volleyball for Duchess Park and the PG Kodiaks.

The Games will take place from July 15th to 23rd
