Lhtako Dene Park territory sign vandalized
QUESNEL — The City of Quesnel is appealing for information after the new Lhtako Dene Park Territory sign was vandalized with graffiti.
The City says the vandalism took place between Sunday July 16 and Monday July 17. In the meantime, the City has filed a police report and its public works department is in the process of removing the graffiti.
The new sign is located in the former Ceal Tingley Park. Mayor Ron Paull calls the vandalism unacceptable and notes it strengthens the city’s resolve as it continues along its path towards meaningful and lasting reconciliation.
The Tingley family has also weighed in, noting they are “very disappointed to hear of the vandalism done to the sign in the former Ceal Tingley Park.” They add “vandalism is never acceptable and is very disrespectful to all.”
