Inaugural PG Enduro event starts today

PRINCE GEORGE — The inaugural PG 2-day Enduro mountain biking event took place this weekend, and this is the first time an event has incorporated three coveted mountain bike trails.

Endurance, strength and focus. Those are three things that participants needed on the weekend as the inaugural PG 2-day Enduro mountain bike event took place. The event was the brainchild of Gino Nava and Jacob Mullen and this is the first multi-stage enduro race that the Prince George Cycling Club has hosted.

The event is a multi-stage which means that there are multiple runs within the event.

“At the Caledonia Nordic Center, you had two runs which are timed runs and then you make your way to the top, which is on time. And then over here [Pidherny] we have three timed runs, three stages that are timed with untimed climbs to your stage, and then Tabor will be the same thing. We have three timed runs with timed climbing components.” – Gino Nava, Organizer, PG Enduro

Pidherny is a popular spot in Prince George for mountain biking and is one of the best mountain biking trail systems around, but you don’t have to be experienced to be able to enjoy Pidherny.

“Whether you are just a beginner or you’ve just ridden around the streets kind of thing, it is more than accessible for somebody who’s totally new to it. We’ve got all sorts of green trails that are nice and wide, super smooth, nice and easy to manage to get down. Then we got stuff for the more expert rider, you know, a little bit more tactical, a little bit more of a challenge for somebody.” – Jacob Mullen, PG Cycling Club

The event concludes at Tabor Mountain on Sunday. For more information on the Prince George Cycling Club, you can visit pgcyclingclub.ca.
