Evacuation order rescinded, alert remains in place for Peacock Creek wildfire

PRINCE GEORGE — The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has rescinded an evacuation order for properties affected by the Peacock Creek wildfire.

The RDBN says that an evacuation alert replaces the evacuation order. The previous order was issued on July 17.

A separate evacuation alert, north of Silverthorne Lake, and north of the current alert, has been rescinded.

The Peacock Creek fire is estimated to be at 895 hectares is out of control. The BC Wildfire Services says that “all wildfires within the Nadina Fire Zone have received significant precipitation over the past 72-hours. No fire growth to negligible growth is expected over the next 5-7 days.”
