PRINCE GEORGE — The Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention has returned to Prince George, and over 2000 people are expected to attend.

Exercise Patience. That is the theme of this year’s Jehovah’s Witnesses convention, one of many held in Prince George over the last number of years. Prince George is no stranger to the convention, as JW conventions have been held in Prince George since 1964. Over 2,000 people are expected to attend the convention over the course of 3 days and a lot of planning goes into an event of this size.

Kurt Johnson, who is from New Hazelton, says that the support from the community and various businesses has been extremely helpful.

“Being able to deal with the hotels, tourism, the venue here, everyone has been really, really helpful. Overall, it’s been a great experience and it’s part of what makes it so nice to return here to Prince George.” – Kurt Johnson, Event Organizer

Since the event has not been held in person since 2019, the event gave a chance for reconnection with friends and family that may not have seen each other since the pandemic started, given that people may coming from as far away as Haida Gwaii to attend.

“We in particular really enjoy being able to be back with our friends too, because we’ve been in different parts of this region. So it’s always a special time to see everybody catch up and enjoy the program.” – Cameron Waite, Event Organizer

This is the first convention held in the city of Prince George since 2018, part of a larger group of conventions taking place across the country, totalling up to 50 in 23 host cities. The event concludes on July 30.
