Campfire ban to stay in place
PRINCE GEORGE – Update: Upon further review, the provincial government has decided not to lift the campfire ban.
The clarification was made at approximately 5:45 Sunday evening. It will remain in place until October 15 or until it is rescinded.
Earlier: B.C. Wildfire Service said on a news release that campfires will be permitted in all zones across Prince George Fire Centre Jurisdiction, starting tomorrow.
“Effective at 12:00 (noon) on Monday, July 31, 2023, a rescind of the Category 1 Open Burning (campfires) prohibition issued on June 8, 2023 will be implemented in the Prince George Fire Centre,” said the release.
