Mackenzie RCMP arrest man who faces multiple charges following stolen vehicle investigation

MACKENZIE — Mackenzie RCMP arrested a man after being alerted to a stolen vehicle Thursday morning shortly after 8 a.m.

North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says Mackenzie RCMP saw the vehicle in the area of Azouzette Lake however the vehicle fled the area.

“Support from RCMP Air Services and Police Dog Services (PDS) were called to assist in locating the stolen vehicle,” she says.

“Air Services spotted the vehicle in the Kennedy Siding and it appeared that attempts were made to hide the vehicle from sight. A suspect was seen fleeing from the vehicles’ location and Air Services was able to provide PDS with the location the suspect was seen fleeing. With the assistance of PDS, the suspect was arrested without further incident.”

The suspect, an adult man from Fort St John, remains in custody and could face charges of possession of stolen property over $5000, possession of stolen property under $5000, possession of break and enter tools as well as numerous charges of breech of conditions.

The suspect is well known to police for similar offences. At the time of his arrest, there was a warrant for his arrest out of Alberta.
