New project at UNBC set to limit bird strikes
PRINCE GEORGE – PhD student, Jeannine Randall, is ready for change at UNBC. After seeing a surplus of dead birds around campus, she started a new project to try and help limit the amount of bird strikes at the school.
“What we’re planning to do is put up is a clear film that has little white dots that are spaced about two inches apart. What’s been shown is that birds don’t perceive windows as being a solid surface. So, especially if they’re reflective and if it has a reflection of the sky or reflection of reflection of trees or reflection grass, birds will perceive that as being habitat, they’ll perceive it as being a travel corridor.”
