EDMONTON — A 33-year-old Prince George man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, four counts of aggravated assault and breaches of conditions and probation, in connection with violent machete assaults on four people in a northeast Edmonton residence.

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) located and charged Bobby-James Lavalee on Wednesday.

The EPS says they were notified of the first attack at approximately 4 a.m. on July 31 at a residence near 118 Avenue and 38 Street.

Upon arrival, police located two females and one male suffering from extensive, life-threatening injuries. Further investigation led officers to a second nearby residence where the attacks occurred.

While officers were assessing and providing urgent care to the three victims prior to the arrival of EMS, another male victim with a serious stab wound was discovered in a nearby vehicle.

While the machete assaults were not random, investigators believe they were unprovoked.

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the machete, which has not yet been recovered. The weapon is described as a “Kukri” style knife, pictured below.
