UNBC MSOC: Goalies look to take a big step this year

Aug 16, 2023 | 5:46 PM

PRINCE GEORGE — Only a goalie can appreciate what a goalie goes through. The UNBC Soccer team, know they have a group that appreciates each other on a daily. Led by goalie coach Rob Goodey, who knows he has a special group of keepers to teach this year.

Goodey was with the Timberwolves from 2014-2019 as part of the roster, so when he showed interest in joining the team as a coach it was a no-brainer for head boss Steve Simonson to bring him in.

One of the keepers Goodey has helped is recruit Logan Pierce. The keeper is looking to make a big jump in his first year and says the former UNBC goalie has already helped his game improve in the short time he’s been here.

Keeper, Daniel Zadravec also is soaking in Goodey’s knowledge, with it being extra special since he trained with Rob back in the day as his teammate.

The men open their season against the reigning Canada West Champions, the UBC Thunderbirds, with kickoff on August 25th.
