PRINCE GEORGE — Up Around the Bend is the creation of Emily Wilson, an artist based in Prince George and this exhibition is the culmination of many years living and working in Northwestern British Columbia.

This exhibition takes visitors on a road trip of sorts along Highway 16. Emily’s exhibition opened on Thursday, August 17 and she is excited for visitors to come and go on a road trip.

“It’s my very first time having a solo exhibition of my artwork and it means a lot to be able to do it in my hometown and such a beautiful space, a long, big hallway, kind of similar to a highway, just like the artwork is about and have folks who are local who connect to it.” – Emily Wilson, Local Artist

Emily says that it has taken around a year to create all the pieces of artwork, but the ideas behind the creations have been formulated in her mind for years.

“I think in a sense, it’s kind of the work of a lifetime of a life spent living and working and driving along Highway 16 and just many long commutes back and forth, kind of looking out the window or thinking about the people and places and animals and things that mean something special to me, having lived so much of my life here.” – Emily Wilson, Local Artist

Up Around the Bend will be at the Two Rivers Gallery until October 1st and Emily hopes that visitors will come and have a look, to explore what makes this region unique.
