Two-vehicle collision closes Highway 97 South

UPDATE: The driver of the logging truck and driver and occupant of the SUV involved in a crash on Highway 97 South just north of Red Rock Thursday afternoon , were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries. It was a couple of hours before both lanes on that stretch of highway re-opened to traffic . The cause of the crash remains under investigation .

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP is advising there is a two-vehicle collision that has closed Highway 97, just north of Red Rock

The incident occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. on August 24, 2023, between a logging truck and an SUV.

Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP states that “emergency crews are currently at the location and have the highway closed in both directions.”

It is unknown how long the closure will last and there is no current detour and police are advising travelers to make alternate arrangements until the highway is reopened.
