PRINCE GEORGE- The topic of daycare will likely create headlines in the coming weeks and months. Engage Sport North is here to help.

Active Star will return this year for the third year. The program invites preschool children to participate in free physical literacy education for two hours each weekday morning.

This year, the program is getting a boost with Enbridge donating five thousand dollars to Engage Sport North, which will not only allow the program to grow but expand beyond Prince George. Active Star will be offered at Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek.

“When they came in to request support to expand this program in Dawson’s Creek, the easiest answer for us was yes,” said Rawnna Low, the Senior Communications Advisor with Enbridge. “We love the program that they offer in Prince George and everyone wants to have more of this.”

Last year Engage Sport North saw more than 600 families register for the program, and those involved are extremely excited to see Active Star grow beyond Prince George.

“We’ve seen the impact that these physical literacy programs have in those regions,” said Victoria Schinkel, the Sport Discovery Leader with Engage Sport North. “It’s going be super impactful for the community, making sure those littles can also have opportunities.”
