Evacuation order area expanded and evacuation alert area added for Great Beaver Lake wildfire

PRINCE GEORGE — We may be closing in on mid-September, but wildfires in this region are not letting up.

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has expanded the evacuation order and an evacuation alert has been added for the Great Beaver Lake wildfire.

Residents of the evacuation order may qualify for evacuation support service. Call 250-960-4400 or 1-800-687-1959 for assistance.

The lightning-caused Great Beaver Lake wildfire was discovered on July 8 and is 14,702 hectares in size.

Next door in the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako, an evacuation alert was rescinded for the Finger Lake wildfire while there was an evacuation alert expansion for the Lucas Lake wildfire and an evacuation alert issued for the Gatcho Lake wildfire.
