Fortescue announces plans for green hydrogen plant in PG

PRINCE GEORGE – Global green energy and metals company Fortescue has taken a major step towards establishing a green energy hub in Prince George, submitting an Initial Project Description and Early Engagement Plan with the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office, proposing the construction of a large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia production facility.
The proposed facility would be situated at the Willow Cale Industrial Park in Prince George on the unceded traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. In October 2021, the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and Fortescue, signed a Memorandum of Understanding and as part of this, the parties are pleased to announce they are negotiating a fulsome Impact and Benefits Agreement.
