Take Back the Night Friday evening

PRINCE GEORGE – An event that has been happening for decades around the world will be celebrated here tomorrow.

The Take Back the Night event will kick off at the Canada Games Plaza on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Short presentations will start the evening off before the march begins at 7:00pm. The march will include a moment of silence at the courthouse.

And the event has a long history.

“The first edition of Take Back. The Night was read back in 1976 in Brussels, Belgium, where a lot of women had gathered for an anti-crime tribunal meeting. And that was the first recorded event. And soon it started spreading in other parts of world,” explains Tanvi Guhagarkar, Executive Director the of Northern Women’s Centre.
