Early morning fire on the Hart claims one life

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: The City now says one person was killed in the fire.

No information on that individual has been released.

Earlier: Sixteen firefighters from three halls responded to a structure fire on the Hart early Thursday morning.

The City says crews responded just before 2:30 a.m. to a residence on the 4000-block of Nordic Drive.

“When the crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the entire structure,” says the City. “Fire crews are still on scene (as of 9:30am) and are checking for hot spots.”

Damages are estimated at $140,000 and the cause of the fire is currently unknown.

There were no injuries.
