Cougars Community Heroes weekend marks the launch of their first Mega 50/50

PRINCE GEORGE—The Prince George Cougars are gearing up for their Community Heroes weekend taking place on Saturday, October 21, against Kamloops Blazers and Sunday, October 22, against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Community Heroes weekend aims to celebrate dedicated individuals who selflessly serve our community by providing a free night of hockey all those who contribute to the well-being of the region. This includes, front-line workers, emergency services personnel,victim support advocates, and Northern Health professionals.

Saturday night’s game against the Blazers is proudly sponsored by Coastal Gaslink and will feature a pre-game ceremony that pays tribute to our community heroes.

Sunday’s game against the Tigers is expected to be even more exciting with a pregame tailgate party sponsored by Canadian Tire and the launch of the first Mega 50/50 Jackpot of the season. Wood Wheaton Supercentre has guaranteed the jackpot at $50,000, with the proceeds from the draw going towards the Prince George Community Foundation and will support the RCMP Victim Services, the Prince George Firefighters Society, and the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.

The Cougars wish to thank all of the local businesses and foundations they have partnered with including, the Prince George Community Foundation and The Spirit of the North Foundation who have been instrumental in planning and organizing this exciting weekend. As well as, a huge thank you to Coastal GasLink, Wood Wheaton, and Canadian Tire who are helping put on the event and have provided tickets for community hero groups to come and enjoy the show.

The Prince George Cougars will be investing $50,000 to provide seats to Community Heroes and are challenging local businesses to participate by attending the celebration and donating more seats. Businesses wishing to participate in the challenge can contact the Cougars at tickets@pgcougars.com.
