New Exhibit at Two Rivers Gallery features Prince George artist Gwynne Bilski
PRINCE GEORGE—Scotland-based artist Gwynne Bilski will be returning to her hometown today to showcase her brand new exhibit at Two Rivers Gallery. “Limbinal Mappings” will showcase her textile maps as a backdrop for dance performances, as well as the site for personal explorations of place.
The opening reception of the exhibit is tonight at 7:30 and will feature performances by the Method Dance Society and a brief talk with Gwynne Bilski. Light refreshments will be available for visitors of the exhibit to enjoy. There will be more performances of the Method Dance Society taking place over the course of the exhibit but the dates have yet to be confirmed.
A musical composition by Duncan Bowers of “Syntheatrics” accompanies the exhibition. Against this soundscape, viewers are encouraged to be mindful of their movements as they navigate the exhibit. QR codes will be posted for visitors to scan and experience the soundscape from their personal devices.
Through this exhibit artist Gwynne Bilski wants to immerse the audience in a space where emotion, movement, and creativity intersect. By showcasing her feelings of sentimentality towards particular locales, she draws attention to how our bodies connect us to the world. Similarily, Bilski asks us to be mindful of the routes we tread in our daily lives and consider the memories and emotions they evoke.
