PRINCE GEORGE—The annual LEAP Conference will be held at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre on October 24 to October 26. LEAP stands for the Leadership & Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program and is designed to help business professionals connect with each other and build important personal and professional development tools.

Over the three day event, attendees can gather in person and virtually for live keynote speakers, Q&A sessions, and interactive workshops.

This year’s keynote speakers are: Angela Sterritt, an author, journalist, writer, and current host of the CBC original podcast Land Back. The second speaker is CFL veteran and Grey Cup Champion, JR LaRose.

The five interactive workshops will provide hands on tools from experts in their field:

  • Sam Laliberte – Serial Entrepreneur, Freelancer, Author, Coach – “The Art of Self Promotion.”
  • Angela Garmon – Business Owner, Philanthropist, CEO – “Conquer and Cultivate.”
  • Yvette Wu – Founder, Subtext Consulting Inc. – “Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion.”
  • Dr. Katherine Greenland – Strategic Communications Consultant – “Collaborative Leadership: Communication Tools for Effective Teams.”
  • Surprise Mystery Guest Speaker – Author, Comedian & Entertainer – “7 Rules You Were Born to Break.”

The networking event is hosted by the Community Futures Fraser Fort George and has an emphasis on diversity of business, industry, trades, and non-profits in the local/regional area. This year’s theme of “Ignite Together” recognizes that through collective efforts, we can enhance the well-being of the people, businesses, and communities we serve.

The theme this year is “Ignite Together” and this seems fitting given the shift to an inclusive conference and the economic climate that we are all navigating together. With this, it is our wish that together we will learn, grow and thrive in our businesses, communities and families. This requires us as individuals to embrace new learning and face new challenges while leaning on those around us, and this is what the LEAP Conference offers to all!
