CNC instructor running for B.C. Conservative Party

PRINCE GEORGE— Sheldon Clare has announced he is running for MLA in Prince George -North Cariboo for the B.C. Conservative party, in the next provincial election.

Sheldon currently teaches Military History at the College of New Caledonia and served as a contract negotiator for the faculty. He has also served six terms as the chair of the provincial Bargaining Co-ordination Committee advocating for educators across the province.

An army reserve officer, Sheldon has spent over seven years instructing cadets and helped create the establishment of a reserve infantry unit in Prince George.

Sheldon ran unsuccessfully as an independent in the 2015 federal election in Cariboo-Prince George, and refers to himself as a defender of Canadian values.

Sheldon spent a decade as president of Canada’s National Firearms Association.

Coralee Oakes currently holds the riding for the BC United Party while no other parties have announced their candidates yet.

The election is scheduled for October 2024.
