PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Public Library (PGPL) is celebrating our local history through its annual Jeanne Clarke Local History Awards.

This is the 39th year celebrating the award, and the PGPL is looking for nominations. There are two awards available, being:

  1. The Publication Award. Any written work within the last two years celebrating our local history is eligible for nomination. The deadline to nominate a work is November 14.
  2. The Service Award. This recognizes a community member or group for their outstanding contributions to our community and shaping our local history.

The Library hopes for many nominations, as it strongly believes in the importance of celebrating and preserving our history.

“It’s a really wonderful way for us to be able to celebrate local history, but also to be able to build that collection and to help people maybe learn about some of those books and histories. So by having that collection and to be able to have these awards, were able to highlight these people and individuals within our community,” PGPL’s Manager of Communications and Engagement Jen Rubadeau said.

“Nomination letters must clearly identify the nominee, the category they are being nominated in, and make a compelling case on behalf of the nominee for why their service or publication deserves to receive the Jeanne Clarke Award. Nominators must include their name and contact information, as well as the name and contact information of the nominee,” a PGPL press release explained.

You can submit your nominations by emailing jrubadeau@pgpl.ca, droping off a letter at the PGPL, or mailing it to Jen Rubadeau at Prince George Public Library, 888 Canada Games Way, Prince George, B.C., V2L 5T6.
