City of Quesnel Leads the Way in Empowering Kitchen Entrepreneurs

Nov 8, 2023 | 2:41 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – Some residents of Quesnel have spiced up an opportunity for entrepreneurs with a flair for creativity.

The City of Quesnel leads the charge in baking ideas to help those working in the kitchen build their dreams.

The Sprout Kitchen Food Hub is commercial-grade kitchen equipment that helps micro food producers move their business forward.

“Sprout Kitchen gives those micro food businesses a place to try out their ideas without making that big capital investment in their own equipment or laying out rent costs, signing a long-term lease.”

Amy Reid

Manager of economic development and tourism, City of Quesnel

The Sprout Kitchen in West Quesnel also provides services to help budding microfood producers with business plans.

The Sprout Kitchen Food Hub is available for anyone who lives in north central BC. Part of the services they provide is the distribution of small-scale food products.

The kitchen has become a meeting place for like-minded people to exchange ideas about growing their business.

The project was a City of Quesnel Initiative, funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Northern Development Initiative Trust. Food processors wishing to use the space can register for membership at www.sproutkitchen.ca.
