PRINCE GEORGE – Local 10-year-old dancer Faiy Boldt is making her dreams a reality, as she is joining Team Canada to compete in the 2024 Dance World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic.

Boldt says she’s been dancing since she was just two-years-old, and explained the amount of practice and dedication it takes to reach Team Canada at such a young age can be taxing, but is always worth it.

“I love dance so very much and it takes a lot of hard work and time, but in the end your dreams can come true,” Boldt said.

“(It takes) lots and lots of practice and stretching and doing it over and over, but in the end it’s the dream, it’s the best thing,” she continued.

Her practice schedule is unmatched by many, as she typically practices 4-7 days a week, and sometimes she can practice for up to six hours a day. Boldt says whenever she gets tired, she just thinks of how good the dance will look when it’s done and that keeps her going.

“She came home last week after dancing for five hours and she pulled her mat out and she was going at it again. And I was like, ‘Faiy you have to let your body rest a little.’ And she was like, ‘I just have to get this one trick down, Mom. I just have to do it,'” Faiy’s mother Tricia Longhurst said.

The upcoming Dance World Cup is a dream come true and incredible opportunity for Boldt, but it will also be challenging. Facing off against the world’s best, she will have to dance in many different genres like modern, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, acro, and more. While it’s no small task, both Boldt and Longhurst know she has what it takes to excel.

“She’s always been my wild and free little spirit, but she’s so humble and she has such a heart of gold. Once she puts her mind to something it’s pure dedication all the way through,” Longhurst said.

Beyond the Dance Cup, Boldt is also excited just for the travelling itself. It will be her first time in Europe, and she said she loves old buildings so she’s ready to enjoy everything Prague has to offer.

“I’m so excited to travel there with my team and see all the old buildings and try all their delicious food,” Boldt said.

The Dance World Cup will take place from June 27 to July 6. You can keep up to date with Boldt’s journey by joining her Facebook page here.
