PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Prince George Cougars forward Koehn Ziemmer has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings.

Ziemmer was selected in the third round, 78th overall by LA in the 2023 NHL Draft.

“It’s a pretty surreal feeling,” Ziemmer said after signing his contract. “You play hockey your whole life dreaming of playing in the NHL one day, and this is one step closer for me. To sign on the dotted line is pretty cool.”

The Cougar forward was with some important people when he found out he was going to sign, “I was actually with my dad in the hunting section at Canadian Tire when I found out, so it was very pretty exciting to go through that with him as well.”

Ziemmer, 18 (turns 19 in December), has suited up in 16 games this season while compiling 24 points in that span (7-18-24). In the 2022-23 season, the Mayerthorpe, AB native had a monster season, scoring 41 times and amassing 48 assists in 68 games.

Ziemmer is closing in on multiple career milestones, including 100 goals (currently at 87) and 100 assists (currently at 95). Ziemmer is the second Cougar on the roster to sign an NHL entrylevel contract (Ty Young – Vancouver).

Ziemmer and the Cougars are back in action tonight to battle the Vancouver Giants at 7:00pm at the Langley Events Centre.
