PRINCE GEORGE – “I love chaos,” Director, Kayvon Khoshkam, said when talking about putting a twist on a classic Christmas production. Theatre Northwest is putting on a Miracle on 34th Street in the coming week as the holiday season gets underway. But, unlike regular theatre, they’re framing it as a radio play.

“We don’t actually have a radio audience listening to this production. We’re giving you a version of what 1947 would have looked like doing this show as a live radio play. And, so, that means that the actors are not changing costumes. We’re not doing set changes. We’re watching the creativity of the actors in the place, making the voices, finding the music and performing into the microphones.”

– Kayvon Khoshkam, Director

Being as it’s a different layout than usual, many of the actors are portraying several different characters throughout the play.

“I believe I am character two. But, basically what that means is I am a bunch of different characters that come on and do little lines, little pop-ups. All of the characters that are in Miracle on 34th show up in this play, but we’re a cast of six people.”

– Courtney Hayhurst, Actor 2

Miracle on 34th Street opens November 23 and runs until December 20.
