PRINCE GEORGE — The Royal Winter Fair is an annual agricultural fair that is held in Toronto every year. Multiple Horse Shows and competitions are held, where riders from all over Canada compete. One of them was 15-year-old Colby Konig from Prince George who returned as a national champion.

More specifically Colby is the new Jump Canada National Champion and the Canadian Equestrian Team champion.

For both events, the teenager had to finish top four at Regionals in September. After qualifying she was off to Toronto to compete on the national level for the first time in her young horse show jumping career.

It’s not the first time the family has been successful at The Royal Winter Fair as Colby’s older sister Taylor was also crowned a Canadian Equestrian Team Champion back in 2021. For Taylor, it was an incredible feeling seeing her younger sister follow in her footsteps and have the same success as her, especially at such a young age

And for Sorine Winther, mother, and coach of Colby and Taylor, it’s a proud moment for the family not only to win the hardware but to also show off what Prince George has to offer on the Equestrian Front.
