PRINCE GEORGE – The City of Prince George was hard at work Wednesday getting prepared for the annual Civic Light Up. With the event coming up on November 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., City of Prince George Event Coordinator Susie Jones is looking forward to hosting what promises to be a wonderful night.

“It really does kick off the holiday season here. We try having something for everybody, so come on down and be part of the community. It’s really one of those events that brings lots of different types of people together and it’s just a wonderful, fun, warm, event,” she said.

The event will have a wide range of activities; among them there will be:

  • Street hockey
  • Live music
  • Face painting
  • Food trucks
  • Free giveaways

“The Prince George Public Library is offering a pop up playdate, so they’ll have a movie, crafts and games happening inside. So if it’s cold outside, you can come in and warm up and come back out, be part of the festivities,” Jones added.

As for the main event of the light up itself, we can expect that at 7:40 p.m., with fireworks following shortly after. Hot coca and holiday treats will be served shortly after.

The Festival of Trees will also take place at the same time in the Civic Centre.
