Prince George Public Library Homework Help returns

Nov 28, 2023 | 11:19 AM

PRINCE GEORGE—Exam season is right around the corner and the Prince George Public Library is offering help with their free Homework Help tutoring program.

The Library Homework Help tutors work with students from grade 3-12 to build skills in English, Math, and Sciences. Students who join the program will be paired with an experienced tutor and university student for weekly sessions. The free, one-hour tutoring sessions will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays on a first come, first served basis with the sessions beginning on December 5, 2023.

Sessions will be offered in-person at both the Bob Harkins Branch, downtown, and the Nechako Branch in the Hart, as well as online. You can register for a tutoring session online at www.pgpl.ca/homework-help or call 250-563-9251 ext. 100. There are a limited number of seats and those who submit a request are not guaranteed a spot in the program. However, the program can accomodate 60 students per week.

“This program has been extremely popular and so well utilized in the past that that we unfortunately haven’t been able to accommodate everyone who wanted tutoring services,” reports Manager of Communications & Engagement, Jen Rubadeau. “This year we have opened up more tutoring blocks than last year thanks to the one-time Library Enhancement Grant from the Province of British Columbia.”

The Homework Help program has been available to students since 2015 and with Provincial Enhancement Funding the Library hopes to make a profound impact on young peoples lives. The PGPL is also excited to return to in-person sessions for those who need extra support in their learning and are wanting to build their academic confidence and skills in a safe and welcoming space.
