PRINCE GEORGE — The WHL announced Friday Prince George Cougars netminder Joshua Ravensbergen has been named WHL Goaltender of the Month for November.

Ravensbergen, who turned 17 on Monday, November 27, went 5-1-0-0 with a 1.61 goals-against average, .947 save percentage, and two shutouts during the previous month.

Heading into the month of December, he leads the WHL in save percentage (.935) and shutouts (4). His 1.86 GAA ranks second among all WHL goaltenders.

The product of North Vancouver, B.C., produced a 38-save shutout in his first start of the month, backstopping the Cougars to a 5-0 win at Prince Albert on Saturday, November 4. The 38 stops by Ravensbergen represented a monthly high for the undrafted rookie.

Ravensbergen was named WHL Goaltender of the Week once during the month of November. Recognized for his efforts on Monday, November 6, it was the second consecutive week Ravensbergen was named WHL Goaltender of the Week, after also earning the honour during the final week of October.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound puck-stopper cruised to five straight victories in November, stretching from November 4 through Monday, November 27.

His second shutout of the month came Friday, November 17 in a 5-0 victory at Vancouver.

In seven appearances during the month of November, Ravensbergen allowed one or fewer goals on five occasions.

Unselected in the WHL Prospects Draft, Ravensbergen was signed to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement Monday, April 24. Prior to joining the Cougars, he spent three seasons with the Vancouver NW Hawks AAA program, going 15-2-3 with a 2.10 GAA and two shutouts at the U18 level in 2022-23.

Heading into December, the Prince George Cougars rank first in the WHL’s Western Conference with a record of 18-7-0-0. Thanks to Ravensbergen’s contributions, the Cougars are the stingiest team in the WHL’s Western Conference, having allowed a mere 2.8 goals-against per game (70 goals-against in 25 games).

Joshua Ravensbergen and the Prince George Cougars return to action Friday, December 1 (7:05 p.m. PT) when they visit the Tri-City Americans at Toyota Center in Kennewick.
