PRINCE GEORGE — After being cancelled 3 years ago, the WestJet non-stop flight Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is returning. Saturday, December 16 is the day when service between the two destinations will resume, meaning that Northerners can escape to the sun a lot sooner.

In just five and a half hours, you can leave Prince George and be in Puerto Vallarta without having to get on a connecting flight. WestJet saw the business case that the airport put forward and so far the response to the flight has been overwhelmingly positive.

“We are so happy that we’ve been able to get this flight back. A lot of work went into making the case to to WestJet to operate the flight again.” – Gordon Duke, President & CEO, Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA)

With the return of this popular route, it could open the door for other international routes to come to YXS. Gordon Duke said that this could compel other airlines and WestJet to continue to look at Prince George as a viable market for leisure travel, with other destinations like Las Vegas and Hawaii being requested as destinations by passengers.

WestJet will operate the flight to Puerto Vallarta, using their fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft, weekly on Saturdays until April 20th, 2024. For more information on the route and booking, visit westjet.com.
