Ty Young shines as Cougars beat Hitmen

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars bounced back from a 6-4 loss to the lowly Edmonton Oil Kings by defeating the Calgary Hitmen 3-2 Thursday night at CN Centre.

Goalie Ty Young led the way, blocking 35 shots en route to the victory. The final shots on goal were 37-23 Calgary. Young was named first star of the game.

Keaton Dowhaniuk and Zac Funk staked the Cats out to a 2 nothing lead. It was Funk’s 37th goal of the season. Hudson Thornton scored the game winner at the 18:20 mark of the third period after Calgary battled back to tie the game.

The announced attendance was 4,112 with the Cougars back on the ice Saturday in Kamloops for the start of a five-game road trip.
