PRINCE GEORGE—Since the formation of the group in late October, the Save Our Streets coalition membership has nearly doubled with the group main goal is calling for governments to end theft, property crime and street violence seen at business in communities around B.C.

Downtown Prince George, an organization dedicated to creating a vibrant downtown core through events and promotions has signed on to the cause. The goal of the non-profit is to keep downtown safe and attractive to businesses and visitors and by signing onto the Save Our Streets movement they’re calling on all levels of government to provide a result-driven coordinated intergovernmental plan that adresses many street level issues including drug addiction, drug trade, mental health challenges, policing, judicial reform and homelessness.

Additionally, Save Our Street has launched a new website to increase awarness and highlight issues and incidents of crime, through researching trends across B.C. The group hopes to establish measurable results to determine whether government action is making streets safer or not. You can view the website at SaveOurStreets.ca

Save Our Streets notes retail theft and the cost of additional security for retail stores is costing BC families $500 annually and there is no end in sight.
