PRINCE GEORGE — Although the Cougars didn’t make any noise during this year’s WHL Trade Deadline, Prince George did make a couple of moves before January 10th.

Every Team is looking for that crucial piece to go on a long playoff run and ultimately win a championship. For the Cougars, it’s two newcomers Borya Valis and Chase Pauls.

Pauls was acquired from the Lethbridge Hurricanes for a 2024 3rd Round Pick and filled the final 20-year-old spot on the team joining Hudson Thornton and Zac Funk. Standing at 6’5, his point total may not stand out but he takes pride in his defensive game.

While he admits it’s tough to be moved to a new team he’s also looking to find success in the playoffs something that didn’t happen in his time with Lethbridge.

Another player looking for playoff success is Borya Valis. The Denver Colorado native was acquired from the Regina Pats for Defenseman Tyson Buchkowski and two draft Picks. He will get his first chance to suit up for a post-season game with the Prince George who currently sit first in the Western Conference. So far Valis has recorded 7 points in four games in his short time as a Cougar.

Chase Pauls will wear number #4 with Prince George. While Borya Valis will wear number #18 and make his home-ice debut this weekend against Kelowna
